Job Description:

UToledo Health and the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences has a faculty position opening for a Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Physician in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine seeks a full-time Sleep Medicine physician to support a rapidly growing, capacity-constrained program. This position is primarily clinical (90% clinical effort, 10% teaching) and is designed to expand access, improve patient outcomes, and support the academic mission.

Clinical Responsibilities (90%)
Ambulatory Sleep Clinic

  • Provide 7 half-day clinics per week
  • Perform new consultations and longitudinal follow-up care
  • Initiate and manage PAP therapy and other sleep-related treatments

Sleep Study Interpretation

  • Interpret 2 half-days per week of sleep studies, including:
    • In-lab polysomnography (PSG)
    • PAP titration studies
    • Home sleep apnea testing (HSAT)
    • Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), as applicable
  • Ensure timely reporting and integration of results into clinical care

Teaching & Academic Responsibilities (10%)

  • Participate in fellow education and supervision in Sleep Medicine
  • Provide didactic sessions, case-based teaching, and bedside instruction
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the division and department

Productivity Expectations

  • Target annual productivity: ~3,800 wRVUs
  • Clinical template (typical week):
    • 15 new patient visits/week
    • 20 return visits/week
    • 15 sleep study interpretations/week
  • Maintain high-quality, efficient clinical throughput aligned with academic benchmarks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent required; successful completion of internal medicine residency
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine;
  • Current license in the State of Ohio required, prior to beginning the position.
  • Fellowship trained in Pulmonary and Critical Care.
