Job Description:
The Senior Financial Analyst contributes to the fulfillment of the university’s mission and vision through the daily maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledger systems of the University. The Senior Financial Analyst responsibilities include analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Financial Analyst is heavily involved in the month-end and year-end accounting processes and functions as a power user for the financial systems. The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for reviewing workflow to evaluate effectiveness, recommending changes to improve productivity, and interacting with staff to analyze existing operational procedures and interpreting how operational effectiveness can be better met.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, related business, or public administration.
CPA or CGFM preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of directly related work experience in Accounting or Finance with at least one (1) year experience in supervision or management preferred.
Familiarity with GASB preferred.
Knowledge of Uniform Guidance preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, accounting applications, system query capabilities, PC based spreadsheet and data base software for analyzing and forecasting required.
Requires a “Can Do” attitude with the ability to manage multiple projects, produce high quality work within established timeframes, and problem solve.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Experience in a large university or governmental/non-profit organization preferred
