Job Description:

Responsible for managing patient, retail, and catering service operations. Assists the Food and Nutrition Services Director in giving direction, training, motivation and guidance to Food and Nutrition Services workers to accomplish established standards to meet or exceed customer satisfaction. Because this individual manages highly visible areas, this position represents UTMC in its highest degree.

All employees must adhere to the following at all times:
• Employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues.
1. Patient safety includes us of two patient identifiers and assuring that food is secured, stored, produced and held in a safe manner following HACCP procedures.
2. The goal for meal satisfaction scores is 50% of large data base on Press Ganey survey.
• Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues.
1. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures.
2. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
• Department education and training focus has a direct impact on patient safety and reduces unsafe working conditions for employees.
• Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.
• Employee provides frontline protection of the University and it’s interests by:
1. Reports temperature variances on refrigerators and freezers.
2. Rotates stock and discards out of date products.
3. Observes employees for potential sources of infection.
4. Reviews employee occurrence reporting for trends and takes corrective/preventative action.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• High School diploma or equivalent required. Degree in Food Service Management or Hospitality preferred, or equivalent education or experience in related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years food service management at a managerial or supervisory level required, with a preference for experience in Healthcare and/or Retail operations.
• Must have a working knowledge of computers, food service equipment, sanitation and products.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.
• Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May require lifting up to 50 pounds or pushing carts.
Communication and other skills:
• Must be able to demonstrate customer service skills.
• Ability to develop people in a challenging food service environment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
