Job Description:
Manages processing activities required by the US Department of Education to determine applicants’ eligibility for financial aid. Requires a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and university guidelines, laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to student eligibility, award calculations and aid packaging to ensure consistent compliance and the accurate and timely disbursement of financial aid. Requires the ability to interpret and apply these laws, rules, regulations, and policies and routinely exercises professional judgement. Manages several eligibility processing functions including, but not limited to, the federal verification process, special circumstances application review, dependency appeals, citizenship and selective service flags and consortium agreements. Collaborates with the Assistant Director, Compliance to identify new or revised student eligibility requirements; assess their impact on University policies and procedures; update office policies and procedures; and implement changes to current processing activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
•Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
•Three or more (3+) years of experience in financial aid or a related field required.
•Advanced computer knowledge and accounting experience desired.
Communication and other skills:
•Strong leadership skills and initiative.
•Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Strong organizational and time management skills.
•Excellent collaborative skills.
•Substantial commitment to quality customer service.
