Job Description:

The University of Toledo Department of English invites applications for an instructional position in the Composition Program at the rank of Assistant Lecturer to begin in Fall 2026. The position is a full-time, unionized, continuing non-tenure-track appointment, renewable yearly, contingent upon satisfactory performance and instructional need. The Assistant Lecturer will cover 24-30 credit hours per year and will teach writing courses including Composition I and II, professional and business writing, and scientific and technical writing. We seek a candidate with experience mentoring first generation college students who will help provide students with the warm and welcoming academic experience they need to thrive.

Minimum Qualifications:

MA or PhD in English or Rhetoric and Composition required. Experience teaching college composition also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant course work in the theory and pedagogy of college composition preferred. Applicants who have experience with retention initiatives or cohort populations would be especially welcome.
