Job Description:

The Herb Innovation Center (THInC), housed in the Judith Herb College of Ars, Social Sciences, and Education (JHCASE) at The University of Toledo, is committed to advancing innovative, sustainable research in education and human sciences. THInC supports faculty and student research while providing undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities for applied research experiences.
We are seeking a part-time Research Associate to assist the THInC team with coordinating and supporting a variety of research projects. Responsibilities include assisting with data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant writing, and providing research support for faculty and students. Areas of research may include—but are not limited to—urban education, special education, social-emotional learning, educational technology, teacher preparation, and professional development for educators and school-based service providers.
The Research Associate will also support pre- and post-award research activities (for both funded and unfunded projects), coordinate and mentor undergraduate research projects and events, and assist students with research-related tasks. A key responsibility of this role includes assisting the Executive Director and Research Associate Profesor with impactful research aligned with the mission of THInC and JHCASE.
The ideal candidate will be committed to pursuing external funding, contributing to original research, and disseminating findings through peer-reviewed journals and conferences. The Executive Director and affiliated faculty are dedicated to the professional growth of the Research Associate and will support participation in professional development opportunities, including conference attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Licensing:
• A Master’s degree, preferably in education or related field
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students
• Experience with conducting qualitative data analyses
• Experience using evidence-based practices and modern research methods to address challenges and problems in PK-12 education
• Ability to seek and secure federal funding
• Ability to publish peer-reviewed articles
• At least five years of experience in education or community-engaged projects

Communication and Other skills:
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills
• Strong professional writing skills, including research reports, peer-reviewed research articles, or other print and electronic publications
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are required
• Ability to communicate research results through talks at scientific conferences
• Exceptional computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office are required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
• Must have the ability to, as well as meet, the requirements to complete and maintain mandatory training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein.
