Job Description:

This position will provide consultation services to faculty regarding pedagogical, technical, federal compliance (TEACH Act, Copyright, ADA) and administrative issues in course design, development, delivery, and evaluation. In doing so, this role will design and develop courses, modules, learning objects, asynchronous and synchronous learning activities, and other related materials for the university academic community, and design and teach faculty development courses and workshops regarding pedagogy and technology in online and blended learning environments, conduct Quality Matters (QM) reviews and provide recommendations for course improvement, and promote best practices of teaching and learning with technology. This role will also participate in UToledo Online initiatives contributing to innovations in teaching and learning with technology.
This position will also serve as the department’s coordinator for accessibility for the Utoledo Online, collaborates with colleagues across campus, including the Director of Student Disability Resources, instructional designers at UToledo Online, and collaborates with the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), to promote accessible learning experiences in online environments. Specifically, this role will advocate for accessibility, provide training, and perform content remediation to ensure that online course materials meet ADA guidelines, universal design principles, and web accessibility standards. Additionally, this role will supervise a student worker assisting with accessibility remediation tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology or related field is required.
Experience in consulting with faculty about teaching with technology in online, blended, and face-to-face environments is required.
Experience using technologies to design student-centered learning materials in a digital learning environment is required.
Willingness to explore the use of technology and innovative learning and teaching strategies to advance learner-centeredness in online, blended, and web-assisted courses is required.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Create Suite, and other authoring programs is required.
Experience using a course management system such as Blackboard, Moodle, or equivalent is required.
Knowledge of ADA compliance, Fair Use guidelines, and the TEACH Act is required.
Knowledge of universal design and ability to guide faculty and staff in meeting digital accessibility standards is required.
Knowledge of best practices for accessible documents, media, and other digital tools required.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements for higher education, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG) required.
Knowledge of captioning and transcription production for video and audio files required.
Able to work effectively in a collaborative environment required.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

University/college teaching experience is preferred.
Experience designing and delivering faculty development programs is preferred.
Knowledge of learning theories, instructional theories, instructional design theory and practice, best practices in teaching and learning is preferred.
