Job Description:

Applications are invited for one or more lecturer positions in statistics beginning August 19, 2024 . These positions entail teaching a wide variety of undergraduate statistics courses. They also include the possibility of participating in the development of our programs in data science. This position can also involve teaching of lower division courses in mathematics as needed. The position is a full-time continuing appointment contingent on satisfactory performance and instructional need.

Applicants must have a graduate degree in statistics or mathematics. A PhD is preferred but not required. Applicants must have prior University teaching experience. Applicants should be proficient with the use of technology in teaching mathematics.

The teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester, with credit hour offsets granted for special circumstances such as course and program development, course coordination, etc. Consideration of applications will begin March 18, 2024 and will continue until the position(s) is filled.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and experience:
• Graduate Degree in Mathematics or Statistics; PhD preferred.
• Proficient with the use of technology in teaching mathematics.
• Prior University teaching experience.
• Experience with multi-section lecture/recitation

Communication and other skills:

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage students and creating a successful and stimulating learning environment
• Creative teaching skills, including but not limited to active learning, inquiry based learning, distance learning and the use of technology in order to improve the pedagogical impact
• Available, respectful and that has the highest professional standards in regard to interactions with students
