The Assistant Director contributes to the mission of the College of Arts and Letters by providing leadership, supervision and evaluation of undergraduate advising activities. It is an important leadership role with a significant impact on CAL’s student success as well as the successful delivery of its many degree programs. Day-to-day leadership activities include supervising 4 direct reports. This position reports directly to the College Dean to set a vision for student retention and degree completion. This role is responsible for establishing a strong culture of student advising and must operate using institutional data, and knowledge of current best practices in advising as established by relevant professional organizations (e.g., the National Academic Advising Association). This role is also an important reviewer of the College’s curriculum and makes recommendations to departments, programs and the Dean’s office regarding its curricular offerings, including CAL’s general education courses.

The Department of Surgery at the University of Toledo Medical Center invites applications for the full-time position as Assistant Professor of the Division of General Surgery. Candidates should be a board certified by the American Board of Surgery and eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of General Surgery have responsibility for covering the General Surgery service line at the University of Toledo Medical Center, an academic level II Trauma Center. He/She should also have a demonstrated track record of leadership and academic productivity. Qualified candidates will have credentials and experience at the level of an Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be a surgeon-educator or surgeon-scientist with a well-established history of academic commitment and mentorship. He/She will be responsible for academic activities including teaching of medical students and residents; research; and related service duties. Leadership and communication skills are important, and there are great opportunities for innovative, educational, along with, translational or basic research at The University of Toledo. Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, the Senior Research Associate serves as an independent researcher using state-of-the-art proteomics capabilities to investigate the pathogenesis of disease within a multi-scholar research environment. Provides leadership and responsibility for key outcomes related to method development for Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometric analyses of proteins, lipids and other metabolites as well as MALDI imaging of proteins, lipids, and other metabolites. This position is responsible for designing and performing experiments independently, identifying research pitfalls, supervising junior researchers and trainees, managing the laboratory, preparing drafts of manuscripts for publication, actively participate in the preparation of grant applications to help fund the research as well as maintain laboratory protocols including IRB, IACUC, and Biosafety. This will require independent judgment and decision making on a regular basis.
