Job Description:

The individual in this position will support research and development activities focused on the performance measurement, analysis, and optimization of High-Performance Computing (HPC) workflows in cloud computing environments. Responsibilities include evaluating workflow performance, developing and testing resource management and scheduling solutions, analyzing system efficiency and scalability, and assisting with the design and implementation of workflow management systems for cloud-based HPC applications. The position offers hands-on experience with cloud computing, distributed systems, performance benchmarking, and advanced computing technologies while contributing to cutting-edge research in HPC resource scheduling and workflow optimization.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
• Experience with C/C++ programming
• Experience with command-line or shell programming
• Understanding of distributed systems, parallel computing, or High-Performance Computing (HPC) concepts
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to evaluate options and develop solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud computing platforms or cloud-based computing environments
• Experience with High-Performance Computing workflows
• Knowledge of resource management and scheduling techniques
• Experience conducting performance testing, benchmarking, and system analysis
• Ability to analyze execution time, resource utilization, scalability, throughput, and cost efficiency
• Familiarity with workflow management systems
• Knowledge of HPC resource scheduling and workflow optimization
• Experience working with computationally intensive scientific, engineering, or data-driven applications

 

The individual may report to a faculty member daily while having a dotted line to the Department Chair.
