Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in General Surgery-Surgical Oncology. The successful candidate will be board certified or board eligible in both General Surgery and Surgical Oncology by the American Board of Surgery and eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. We are in search of an experienced surgical oncologist who has a keen understanding of the latest techniques in diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, as well as newer techniques such as interventional radiology and immunotherapy. Above all, you should have a passion for meeting the needs of patients and their families during their cancer journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center to accurately assess patient needs and develop a treatment plan that meets those needs
  • Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, methods, techniques, safety precautions, and study protocol
  • Participate in the development of clinical research, standard operating procedures, and study-specific procedures
  • Participate in the mentoring and training of medical students and residents
  • Opportunity for an elective general surgery/surgical oncology/HPB practice

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or MD/PhD with medical training specifically in surgical oncology and general surgery
  • Board certification or board eligible with state license in good standing
  • Ability to interpret clinical, genomic, and efficacy data
  • Experience in research and/or clinical protocols preferred
