Job Description:
This position under the direction of the Sr. Director, Information Security is charged with administering the University of Toledo’s information security program and operations. This position must maintain a basic understanding of technology and is expected to have significant depth in one or more specific security disciplines.
Under guidance of the Sr. Director, Information Security, this position will perform operational “run” tasks and/or support the team on “build” projects as need dictates. This position will be assigned daily, weekly, monthly and annual security operations checklist activities as well as periodic assurance, audit and compliance related activities. This position will serve as a security team liaison to internal and external projects and organizations and provide security advising and consulting services. This position will be asked to perform customer service, training, and awareness duties to develop and foster a safe computing culture. In completing assigned work, this position will be expected to act with integrity, agility and responsiveness, and be able to complete assigned work with a high degree of quality.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Associate degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred
• Technical and/or Information Security certification desired such as CEH, CISSP, GSEC, GIAC, Security+ etc. Other relevant certifications such as CIPP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, or other risk management, privacy or IT Audit certifications helpful.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred.
• One to three (1-3) years’ experience in information security, information technology, information systems, servers or networks required. Completed degree in a relevant field in lieu of work experience will be considered.
• Government/military, healthcare, academic, enterprise IT, telecom, security, IT audit, or privacy work experience preferred.
• Experience in a large enterprise environment desired.
• Ability to understand complex problems and apply procedural methods in an ordered and documented manner to resolve situations is required.
• Experience writing high quality documentation, policies, procedures, technical guides or manuals preferred and a basic understanding of contracts and audit reports is helpful.
• Intermediate to expert level experience with the Microsoft Office suite required.
Communication and other skills:
• Behavioral dimensions considered necessary include strong interpersonal skills; conflict resolution, creative problem-solving capability; and customer service.
Other:
• Ability to work on a 24/7 on-call basis.
• Willingness to operate on a scheduled shift other than 8 to 5.
