Job Description:

This position under the direction of the Executive Director will administrator, develop, and monitor Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math Science programs, professional staff and annual budgets and regulatory compliance. This position plans, devises, implements and modifies, written grant objectives and will develop and pursue funding opportunities. This position promotes and serves as primary liaison among Higher Education Institutions, administrators and faculty. This position intervenes directly on behalf of students. This position approves speakers, guest lecturers, university workshops, special events (i.e., National TRIO Week, Parent Advisory Association/Collaborative, planning and coordination staff orientation).This position will organize and plan all student field trips and other activities. Evening and weekend work is required as well as travel and other grant related duties as assigned. This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Guidance and Counseling, Sociology, Liberal Arts or degree in a related field is required.
• Competent experience full-time as administrator, including supervision and budget management.
• Five (5) years’ experience in TRIO programs and two (2) years administrative or teaching experience.
• Upward Bound residential program experience or residence life experience also preferred.
• Understanding of students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) needs and ability to motivate students to succeed.
• Extensive experience managing teams that include student workers and professionals with a focus on staff personal/professional development.
• Knowledge of federal regulations governing (TRIO) grants programs.
• Research and proposal writing experience.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Clean driving record.


Communication and other skills:
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated computer literacy.
• Well-developed organizational and administrative and detail-oriented skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and work well with low-income and first-generation college bound students.
