Job Description:
Under supervision of the Clinic Manager/Supervisor of the Dana Cancer Center, performs complex secretarial services through typing of technical, clinical and/or confidential material. Serves as main receptionist for the Dana Cancer Center. Screens calls and visits, and manages clinical appointments and schedules. Responsible for securing files, charts, reports, and data as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED completion required.
- One year training or one year experience in secretarial science.
- Must be able to type 60 WPM accurately. For positions requiring manual dictation, must also have six (6) months training or six (6) months experience in speedwriting or shorthand.
- Knowledge of medical technical terminology with six (6) months training or six (6) months experience in relevant technical terminology.
- Ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages, ability to read and write common vocabulary.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in ambulatory patient care physician practice, hospital setting, or healthcare environment.
- Must work well under pressure, possess multitasking ability and have demonstrated dependability.
- Knowledge of hospital practices and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures, office management, skill in typing, ability to deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context.
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, physicians, patients, residents, staff.
- Strong knowledge and implementation of public relations practices.
- Ability to gather, collate, and classify information about data, people and things according to established methods.
