Job Description:

The Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering Department at The University of Toledo invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor in materials engineering with a focus on advanced manufacturing beginning June 2025. This position entails conducting research and mentoring students. Research activities include leading a research program in the focus area, developing and expanding research pathways, planning and executing research activities, assisting in writing grant proposals, leading reporting for funding agencies, serving as a corresponding author on publications, and working with undergraduate/graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Service activities include coordinating research and safety in a lab, maintaining the research laboratory, purchasing necessary supplies, and providing services to the external research community, as requested. Mentorship activities include directing activities of both undergraduate and graduate students and working with student and postdoctoral researchers to draft manuscripts for publication. The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed subject to performance and other factors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or a relevant field from an accredited institution. The position also requires expertise in two or more of the following areas: materials engineering, advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and mechanical engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of experience as a post-doctoral research fellow is preferred.
