Job Description:

Provides access to care and information to patients seeking care in the UTMC Care Clinic. Contacts Managed Care Organizations and Third-Party Payers to determine insurance benefit information and interacts with medical and therapeutic staff to schedule patients with the appropriate providers. May include registration duties and provides patient care services. Answers phones and processes calls appropriately. Participates in the management of EHR baskets and work queues.
The ages of patients served spans the spectrum of the life cycle. Care will be directed at taking information from patients, answering questions from patients, visitors, etc. recognizing that every age group has unique developmental characteristics influencing the approach that should be utilized in dealing with these patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Mental Health Technology or other relevant degree or experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year of direct patient care or ambulatory care preferred.
• Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
• Experience with mental health and substance use treatment preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Possesses knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care and maintains competency through continuing education.
• Exhibits accuracy, integrity, and flexibility to work multiple outpatient areas.
• Required to work flexible hours. Must be punctual and dependable.
• Motivated to plan and organize work, and to work without supervision.
• Is tactful and courteous in dealing with patients and visitors. Able to maintain an effective working relationship with personnel and the medical staff.
• Successfully completes clinic specific competencies.
• Adheres to UTMC Customer Service & iCare values.
• Previous Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
• Requires the ability to operate various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: Personal computer, fax machines, copiers, and telephones.
