Job Description:

The Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) Department at The University of Toledo invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Thermal-Fluid and Mechatronics/Automation beginning August 2024. This position entails teaching a wide variety of undergraduate courses and laboratories, creating innovative instructional materials and laboratory experiences, contributing to program assessment and accreditation activities, and advising students. The teaching load is 12-15 credit hours per semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a graduate degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a closely aligned engineering field from an accredited institution. The position also requires expertise in two or more of the following areas: experimental/computational fluid dynamics, thermal science, mechatronics, intelligent systems, and automations.

A letter expressing interest in the specific position, a curriculum vitae, available start date, and a teaching or academic portfolio that contains narratives describing teaching activities, and sufficient documentation to support the narratives, are required. The application should convey a robust teaching background with experience in lectures, recitations, and laboratory sessions. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate success in undergraduate teaching.


Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of three years of instructional and industrial experience is preferred. Additionally, a record of relevant professional activity and engagement with service activities at the community or national level, as well as innovation in teaching pedagogy at the undergraduate course level, are desired.
