Job Description:

The primarily responsibility of the Research Associate will be research and clinical transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and functional MRI applications. The Research Associate will facilitate the installation of TMS systems and will be trained and certified for TMS applications including FDA-approved clinical TMS therapies and advanced research TMS protocols. The research Associate will collaborate with external and internal collaborators to develop online TMS and functional MRI (fMRI) inside MRI scanner in the Department of Radiology at UTMC. The Research Associate will also collect and process TMS data and MRI functional, structural, diffusion, and perfusion brain images for research and clinical applications. The Research Associate will be responsible for maintaining the research equipment including MRI, TMS, and EEG experiments. The Research Associate will also contribute to research database maintenance, statistical analyses of neuroimaging, behavioral, and physiological data, and writing of reports for research projects. The Research Associate may also be involved in other aspects of the research, including recruitment of research participants and integrating new technologies into the labs. The Research Associate will coordinate the Research Assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field is required.
Basic programming skills in Matlab, Python, Linux, or R. are required.
Prior experience in operating and maintaining medical devices is plus.
Applicants with experiences in TMS procedures, MRI scan, neuroimaging data processing and analysis using image processing software (e.g.,FreeSurfer, FSL, SPM), use of statistical software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R),
and basic knowledge on human neuroscience will be preferred.
Must be able to successful complete required training in Human subject research training, HIPAA and IRB upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's or Doctoral degree in a science field (e.g., engineering, computer science, neuroscience, psychology) is preferred.
