Job Description:

The Psychometrist is responsible for Administering and scoring emotional, behavioral and cognitive tests for outpatients in the department of psychiatry and manage materials, space, and information related to test administration.

The ages of patients served spans the spectrum of the life cycle. Care will be directed at taking information from patients, answering questions from patients, visitors, etc. recognizing that every age group has unique developmental characteristics influencing the approach that should be utilized in dealing with these patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• BS or BS in psychology or related mental health field. Advanced degree in psychology preferred.
• Experience in neuropsychological testing
• Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Training and experience in working efficiently and effectively with people of all ages required. Must be able to develop rapport with people of all age groups, conditions, and backgrounds
• Basic knowledge of computer functions required
• Motivated to plan and organize work and to work with little supervision
• Must have the ability to adhere to precise protocols and complete work in allotted time frames
• Must be certified in BLS and maintain certification throughout employment.
• Must have crisis intervention certification or receive within probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment.
• Must have First Aid certification or receive within probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment.
• Must receive training for or education in the following areas and demonstrate prior to or within 180 days, competency of basic mental health, which shall include, at a minimum the following:
1. How to therapeutically engage a mentally ill person;
2. Crisis response procedures;
3. An understanding of the community mental health system;
4. De-escalation techniques and understanding how his/her behavior can impact the behavior of individuals with mental illness’

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS or BS in psychology or related mental health field. Advanced degree in psychology preferred.
