Job Description:
The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences will develop a regional quality improvement hub to more reliably translate best-evidenced care into clinical practice, offering structure to collectively support measurable health improvements. This project is supported by the Medicaid Technical Assistance and Policy Program (MedTAPP) and the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC). The design of this project is based on a Hub and Spoke Model. The Program Quality Improvement (QI) Director will be responsible for driving the use of QI science within the UToledo Hub and among other stakeholders, including northwest Ohio health systems/clinical sites (spokes), other QI Hubs throughout the state, and the Government Resource Center.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or Organizational development or other related field, and 5 years related experience
Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. The most important background for this position is a history of using quality improvement tools to change actual outcomes.
2. Must have detailed knowledge of quality improvement philosophy, methodology and tools. An excellent understanding of hospital (and/or primary care) organization and measurement is desirable.
3. Experience in the following software applications is required:
a) Spreadsheets (Excel, etc.)
b) Power Point
c) Word Processing (Word, etc.)
4. Communication: Exceptional communication finesse with excellent verbal, written, and accomplished interpersonal communication skills. Must present a professional manner, have strong verbal/written communication skills; be able to maintain confidentiality of all data.
5. Demonstrated ability to lead and coach teams across a wide variety of roles/skill levels (staff to Sr. Exec, technicians, nurses, physicians) as well as across the full spectrum of all the health systems functions (Ambulatory, Hospital, Business, etc.)
6. The ideal candidate will be proficient at organizing data collection and use, coaching teams, teaching improvement concepts including change management, and developing others to drive transformation.

Preferred Qualifications:
a) Master’s degree
b) Work experience as an operational leader (supervisor, manager, etc.) is highly desired.
c) Formal quality improvement training including for example CPHQ, Six Sigma Black Belt, IHI, Lean or other methodologies
d) Data Management formal training desirable
