Job Description:
The Department of Urology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences is seeking a General Urologist to join our growing academic practice. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive urologic care while contributing to the education of future physicians and advancing the academic mission of the institution.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with general urologic conditions.
- Perform outpatient and inpatient consultations.
- Perform office-based procedures as well as endoscopic, laparoscopic, open, and robotic-assisted surgical procedures, as appropriate.
- Participate in operating room coverage and inpatient rounding.
- Share an equitable call schedule with members of the Department of Urology.
- Provide urologic services at satellite practice locations as needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Meet departmental expectations for quality, patient safety, and clinical productivity.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Educate and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers.
- Participate in educational conferences, lectures, journal clubs, and departmental meetings.
- Provide mentorship to trainees and junior faculty, as appropriate.
Academic & Research Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly activities.
- Contribute to publications, presentations, and academic projects aligned with individual interests and departmental goals.
- Support the academic mission of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental committees and faculty meetings.
- Complete required institutional training and maintain compliance with University and hospital policies.
- Support departmental strategic initiatives and ongoing quality improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Urology Residency Program or equivalent training that meets eligibility requirements for board certification and medical licensure in the United States. (You may want to confirm the preferred wording with Michele.)
- ECFMG certification, if applicable.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Ohio.
- Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges at the University of Toledo Medical Center and affiliated hospitals.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional patient-centered care and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training is welcomed but not required.
- Experience with robotic-assisted urologic surgery.
- Familiarity with renal transplantation is desirable but not required.
- Interest in resident and medical student education.
- Interest in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Previous academic practice experience is preferred.
