Job Description:
The Research Assistant will support all research activities involving machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) within the cardiology lab, focusing on the development and application of data-driven methods to biomedical and healthcare data. This position is essential for advancing AI-based methods in clinical research, improving predictive models, and supporting grant applications and publications. The Research Assistant will manage AI pipelines, conduct data analysis, prepare research outputs, and collaborate with internal and external research partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Engineering, or a related discipline required.
• Minimum one year of experience applying AI/ML techniques, preferably in a healthcare or research setting.
• Experience with AI models for structured, imaging, or unstructured data preferred.
Required Skills:
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch).
• Knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization.
• Familiarity with version control (Git).
• Experience managing large datasets and conducting data cleaning and analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) data, omics data, or imaging data.
• Knowledge of data governance, HIPAA, or IRB protocols.
• Experience with cloud-based AI computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Familiarity with deep learning techniques and frameworks.
