Job Description:
The role of the Clinical Operations Manager at the University of Toledo Medical Center is to ensure staff of the Inpatient Pharmacy is staffed and trained to provide high quality pharmaceutical care. The Operations Manager facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desired patient outcomes in a community teaching environment. They facilitate the implementation of policies, procedures, and staff development programs that promote desirable patient outcomes using safe, cost-effective drug therapies. The Operations Manager will precept, mentor, and educate students, residents, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Must be a graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
• Must hold current and unrestricted Ohio Pharmacist License
• Advanced degree – PharmD, MBS, MS in Hospital or Pharmacy Administration with 5 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy
• Formal clinical training is preferred through a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or fellowship
• BLS and ACLS Certification
• This position requires a flexible schedule due to operational needs of the department.
• Board certification in Pharmacotherapy or specialty within 2 years of hire.
• Meet ASHP preceptor qualifications within 6 months of hire.
Communication and other skills:
• Demonstrate and utilize effective interpersonal and culturally appropriate communications.
• Experience in providing written and oral drug information with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Analyze data, interpret policies, procedures and regulations, develop appropriate conclusions, and prepare reports.
• Self-directed, motivated and capable of leading personnel.
• Possess the ability to resolve conflicts and respond appropriately to complaints.
• Able to work well with the public and other health professionals.
• Able to train, evaluate and supervise professional and technical personnel and staff.
Physical Requirements:
• Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable
• Ability to hear (with or without aides)
• Ability to orally communicate
• Good manual dexterity
• Ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to stand, walk constantly
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel occasionally
