Job Description:
This position is responsible for general sheet metal work, operation of hand tools and power machines, ventilation and air conditioning, exhaust piping, roofing, and guttering, forced air furnace work, and special installation and specialty work.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent GED.
• 24 months training or 24 months experience in sheet metal work, plus experience in use of hand and power tools.
• Must hold DOL roofer journeyman certification or equivalent.
• 1 course or 3 months experience in blueprint reading.
• Or alternative, equivalent evidence of the major characteristics noted above.
• To effectively perform the functions of this position, the incumbent must have knowledge and skill in leadership, total quality management concepts, welding, fabricating, roofing, carpentry technology, blueprint reading, regulations, codes, building and equipment maintenance, safely operate hand and power tools, use mathematics, cooperate with others, and have the ability to solve problems. An understanding of building layout, terminology, university and maintenance operations, policy, and procedures is necessary.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under UT driving policies.
