Job Description:
The Assistant Director assists the Director in all aspects of strategic planning, direction, and execution of services for the center. Oversees the provision of direct mental health services including counseling, advocacy, and case management at the university counseling center based on Counseling Center Policies and Procedures. Ensures adherence to the best standards of practice for university counseling centers based on Counseling Center Model, ethical codes, IACS accreditation standards, Ohio licensure and laws for psychology, counselor, and social work professions, applicable state and federal statutes, local health and safety laws and regulations. Provides administrative and counseling supervision to counseling staff members, managing the daily operations of the center for clinical care and clinical staff supervision including client caseloads, clinical load index, scheduling assignments, emergency/crisis services, and peer supervision. Provide direct mental health services to students, outreach programming and professional training to the University of Toledo community on a variety of mental health issues, mental health training & supervision to counseling center trainees, and consultations to faculty and staff regarding college student mental health. The Associate Director also provides supervision and training for designated students/staff working toward a degree/license to practice in the mental health field.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Master’s Degree (minimum required) in counseling psychology, social work, or counselor education and supervision. LISW-S, PC-S, or PCC-S required.
• Licensure in Ohio: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor by State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
• Licensed in Ohio: Ohio Psychology Board.
• 2 years clinical experience in a university counseling center or mental health agency.
• 30 hours of Continuing Education approved by Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapist Board every two years to maintain license.
• Knowledge of university and community resources desirable.
• At least 1 year of leadership experience is required with 2 years’ experience preferred.
Communication and other skills:
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal communication and customer service.
• Competence in Microsoft software programs and use of the internet.
