Job Description:
Under general supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Clinic Supervisor provides individualized, direct patient care of patients under the supervision of a physician. The Clinic Supervisor assists in the implementation of the delivery of health care services, assists fellow employees in providing the highest quality personalized patient care, and maintains a positive work relationship with the health care team. Administers medications only under the direction, supervision and control of the physician. Responsible for assisting physicians, office staff, consumers, University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) employees with obtaining accurate information and appropriate referrals to the UTMC. Provides direct supervision to Medical Assistants, office staff, students, and volunteers as needed. Provides overall supervision of clinic functions in the absence of the Clinic Manager or as delegated.
The ages of patients served spans the spectrum of the life cycle. Care will be directed at taking vital signs, assisting patients to room, and assisting the nurses, physicians, students and residents in the clinical area, recognizing that every age group has unique developmental characteristics influencing the approach that should be utilized in caring for these patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from an approved School of Medical Assisting required
Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant required.
Three years previous leadership required.
Previous Internal Medicine experience preferred.
Previous Ambulatory Care experience required.
Possesses knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care and maintains competency through continuing education.
Advanced computer skills required, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, or equivalent (will be tested)
Exhibits accuracy, integrity, and flexibility to work multiple outpatient areas.
Motivated to plan and organize work, and to work without supervision.
Displays tact and courtesy in dealing with patients and visitors.
Able to maintain an effective working relationship with personnel and the medical staff.
Required to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be punctual and dependable.
Maintains certification in CPR.
Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable
Ability to hear with or without aides);
Ability to orally communicate
Good manual dexterity
Ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to stand, walk frequently
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently
Ability to perform CPR (if required for position
