Job Description:

Math Tutor Position, Escuela SMART Academy
Hiring for Summer 2024! May 29, 2024 through June 27, 2024
• 10-14 hours/week
• $20/hour

Responsibilities include:
• Consistent attendance for all tutoring sessions required (except for illness or emergency)
• Participate in ongoing professional development in effective tutoring, math and art integration, led by TutorSmart coaches and UToledo JHCOE professors
• Work with teachers and tutoring supervisors to assess K-6th grade students to determine math strengths and challenges
• Plan and enact math tutoring sessions based on students’ interests and needs
• Work with team to develop art integration and math lessons
• Communicate with parents/caregivers and students’ classroom teachers
• Create weekly take-home family notes, including follow-up activities
• Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice
• Facilitate problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma (or equivalent)—some college experience preferred
• Skills & knowledge in teaching, math, art, and/or Spanish
• Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable and cooperative with a sense of humor
• Ability to supervise students positively
• Ability to take supervision and correction constructively
• Commitment to consistent attendance through semester
• Background check (will be paid for by the program)
