Job Description:

This position coordinates, organizes and oversees various areas of the stroke program, to include, but not limited to education, compliance, and follow-up. This position will also act as a liaison between neurologists, interventionalists, community and the clinical team.
All employees must adhere to the following at all times:
•Employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times.
•Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues.
•Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
•Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Must be a registered nurse with active Ohio licensure
• BSN required; MSN preferred.
• Three years minimum experience in hospital setting, preferably with care of stroke patients.
• BLS required.
• NIHSS required.
• Demonstrated involvement with hospital accreditation process preferred.
Communication and other skills:
• Poses good communication skills and able to work independently.
• Maintain fluency for major data abstraction and electronic entry into the tracking systems.
• Consistently demonstrates great customer service in dealing with patients, students, staff, others and/or the public.
