Job Description:
The Payroll Analyst supports the university's mission and vision by ensuring payroll system functionality
and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Key responsibilities include, but are
not limited to, exercising discretion and professional judgment in the examination and evaluation of
payroll activity; assisting with reconciliations and the recording, monitoring, and reporting of payroll-related
accounts to various agencies; and partnering with staff to ensure the accurate and timely
processing of payroll, including review, verification, adjustments, and reconciliation. The role also
supports the Payroll Manager and Fiscal Manager in identifying and implementing continuous process
improvements and completing special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, related business or technical degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Minimum of one year of directly related work experience in Payroll, Accounting, Audit or Finance with working knowledge of payroll tax rules, regulations and general accounting
with problem-solving and process improvement skills required.
Requires analysis and judgement in accomplishing diversified duties and exercise of independent thinking within the limits of polices and regulations.
Superior attention to detail to prevent costly errors and maintain data accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office with a strong emphasis on Excel, accounting applications, system query capabilities for analyzing required.
Requires a “Can Do” attitude with the ability to manage multiple projects, produce high-quality work within the established timeframe.
Requires demonstrated research, communication and excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
Experience in a large university or governmental/non-profit organization preferred.
Working Knowledge of Banner, Symplr, and TimeClock Plus systems preferred.
