Job Description:

The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology is seeking an Assistant Professor to provide patient care along with instruct and mentor current medical students, residents, and fellows within the discipline of gastroenterology. The Division of Gastroenterology provides services to the community of NW Ohio and SE Michigan. Within our state-of-the-art facility, providers are supplied with some of the most cutting-edge endoscopic equipment in the region as well as a dedicated clinical support team. The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences actively engages in research and educational opportunities to advance the study of gastroenterology and treat even the most complex gastrointestinal diseases.

Responsibilities:

  • Work and round with the Gastroenterology (GI) healthcare team to provide patients with GI medical care services within the standard of care.
  • Instruct medical students and residents in the discipline of gastroenterology; Participate in conferences; Conduct and develop research grants and proposals.
  • Participate in the teaching programs of the Department of Medicine, the College of Medicine, and the University
  • Participate in research trials that align with the goals of the Department of Medicine

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent required: board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine: Current license in the state of Ohio required; Fellowship trained in gastroenterology.
  • Must meet all the institutional requirements for appointment to Assistant Professor.
  • Ability to successfully teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Experience in collaborating with healthcare professionals to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Gastrointestinal Motility disorders.
  • Extra-training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
