Job Description:

Serve as the primary planner, facilitator and coordinator and educator for all Digital Imaging (DI) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) projects. Ensure the successful ongoing operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of the PACS, with minimal oversight. Coordinates and works closely with IS, Physicians, external vendors, Radiology, and other ancillary department personnel as well as Technology and Application staff as needed to facilitate installation or new systems and resolve ongoing support issues with existing systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Strong positive, interpersonal working skills, and strong proven motivational and leadership skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Knowledge of all operations in a high volume radiology depal1ment required. Must be able to work in a labor-management partnership environment and manage department clinical resources on an as needed basis. Serve as an ambassador of UTMC in the community, demonstrating our organization's values, services and mission.

1. Adheres to NPSG 09.02.01 by following the Morse Fall Scale to assess all patients for their risk of falling.
2. Adheres to NPSG 07.01.01 by effectively washing hands when going from one patient to the next.
• Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
• Department education and training focus has a direct impact on patient safety and reduces unsafe working conditions for employees.
• Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.

1. Recognizes Frayed Cord:
Reports equipment dysfunction in timely manner.
Make sure alternate process is in place and action is taken.
Reduces adverse results or impact to patient care and the employee.
2. Recognize exposure to Blood:
Worked as a team to limit exposure and create a safe work environment.
Safety concerns: The manager has been timely with staff training and education.
Wiping up spills.
3. Follows standardized approach for handoff communication
Follows policy for communication including the opportunity to ask and respond to questions.


Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education/Experience/Licensing:
• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or IT related field required.
• At least three (3) years of experience demonstrating knowledge of Radiology principles and imaging techniques as they apply to the daily operation or the department.
• Proficiency in office automation systems (MS Office applications) including word processing, spreadsheet, and project planning software.
• Working knowledge of modality interfacing methods, DICOM functionality, HL-7, HIPAA, and integration techniques.
• Understanding of imaging data transfer, storage and network requirements.
• Understanding of RIS, HIS systems, functionality and technical integration required. Knowledge of IHE stands preferred.
• Works to ensure that information is disseminated from all levels and effectively communicated to all levels of the organization.


Communication and other skills:
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as solid organizational, planning and project management skills.
• Demonstrates clinical competency in caring for patients as identified in unit's Scope of Care. Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Effectively responds to customer service needs.
a. Demonstrates effective age and culturally appropriate interaction with patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
b. Adheres to UTMC's Customer Service values.
c. Seeks out ways to assist patients and co-workers.
• Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or related certification preferred.
