Job Description:

This person is under the direct supervision of the Department Administrator 2 and provides complex administrative support for the Department Chair. He/she will assist the Chair in routine responsibilities of the daily operation and administrative aspects of the department. The assistant must be conversant with all institutional and administrative policies and know how to obtain information and implement those policies. The individual will also act in a liaison capacity between the Chair and various faculty and departments in transmitting information, decisions and directives. The person will also work with the Department Administrator 2 and other faculty members in providing assistance with grant and contract submissions, research papers, abstracts and posters for presentation at local, national and international meetings and symposia.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
1. Associate’s Degree in relevant business field required.
2. 2-3 years’ experience in a compatible administrative support position preferably in an academic setting.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
4. Demonstrates strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and self-motivation with the ability to motivate others.
5. Ability to learn new systems and adapt to changes.
6. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential while maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity is essential.
8. Must possess valid driver’s license. Requires own transportation to accommodate on and off campus work activities.
9. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate department needs (early AM or later PM meetings as required).

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree preferred.
