Job Description:

This position will provide a crucial connection between the research community and software systems that support the research and sponsored programs enterprise at UT. The position will actively engage with users by providing instruction in systems use, generating helpful documentation, answering questions from faculty and staff, and troubleshooting and triaging issues. This position will work with RSP, Compliance, and Grants Accounting staff to analyze and give input on business practices and provide guidance to improve system functionality and workflow. This position will take a lead role in configuring future modules and upgrades in all research administration software systems and will be expected to make many decisions autonomously. The position will also assist with data maintenance and work with stakeholders to determine reporting needs and develop reports using standard tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Minimally bachelor’s degree required
• One to three (1 -3) years relevant experience (systems and training, comprehension of computer systems, etc.)
• Required strong computer skills including familiarity with web applications and Microsoft Office Suite
• Required experience (formal or informal) in teaching, tutoring, training, or instruction
• Must be able to break complex tasks into manageable pieces and analyze, describe, and replicate them
• Must possess solid organizational skills, time management skills and prioritization skills

Communication and other skills:
• Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Able to work and solve problems independently
• Display positive customer-oriented attitude
• Effectively communicate with a wide variety of people of all levels of computer experience, education, and research knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with sponsored research and the research protocol review process
• Experience creating instructional materials
• Experience teaching in a higher education environment
• Report building experience
