The Program Manager of Medical Student Research is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and organizational enhancement in the research opportunities for medical students. This role involves the creation and administration of a medical student research program (scholarly pathways), facilitating student-faculty collaborations, and working in close collaboration with the Directors of the Medical Student Research Curriculum to integrate research as a core component of the medical school curriculum. The program manager will also be expected to support the Biomedical Research Society composed of M1-M4 medical students to enhance accessibility to research opportunities.

The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences is recruiting up to two (2) tenure-track faculty, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, as part of a major expansion of basic science, interdisciplinary, and translational research. We are seeking outstanding scientists who study highly-infectious pathogens, host-pathogen interactions, and/or vaccine/therapeutic development and require biosafety level 3 (BSL3) and animal BSL3 (A-BSL3) containment for these studies. Ideal candidates will study highly-infectious pathogens such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Coxiella burnetii, Yersinia pestis, Rickettsia sp., influenza virus, EEEV, SARS, MERS, West Nile virus, Hantavirus, Chikungunya, etc. The University is undergoing an exciting phase of research infrastructure expansion, including a $7M federal investment to renovate and expand the existing BSL3/A-BSL3 into 6 biocontainment suites, with shared equipment spaces and biocontainment entry/exit showers, for Select Agent, biodefense, and/or emerging infectious disease research.

The Ecosystem and Soil Ecology Laboratory (ESE) is seeking a research assistant to provide support in collecting, processing, and analyzing agricultural soil samples for the Pilot Watershed Project. The research assistant will work closely with lab staff and graduate students in the laboratory, processing soil samples for nutrients and various markers of soil health. They will be responsible for professional field and laboratory-based tasks such as materials preparation, washing glassware, sample labeling, weighing samples, preparing reagents, pipetting samples and solutions, laboratory maintenance, and data entry.
