The Research Scientist will work on research projects within the Polymer Institute in the College of Engineering. This position performs research tasks using polymer synthesis/processing equipment, additive manufacturing equipment and various characterization instruments. The employee must be self-directed and able to work with minimum supervision. The employee must also be able to document results and write quarterly/yearly progress reports to granting agencies. The candidate will be expected to perform laboratory experiments in support of funded projects, perform laboratory experiments to develop new areas of research, perform analysis of samples, develop new protocols, interpret results, write manuscripts for publication in refereed journals, and write/assist with preparation of grant proposals. In addition, this position will assist the Sr. Director in running day-to-day operations of the Polymer Institute. Experience in supervising laboratory experiments of graduate and undergraduate students is highly desired.
