Job Description:
Under the direction of the Hospital Security Director and Assistant Director, the Security Officer 2 is responsible for carrying out lead functions for the security staff such as scheduling, shift staffing, incident reports, assignments, test bank training, shift roll call and assigning daily tasks. The Security Officer 2 (SO2) works closely with the University of Toledo Police and Hospital Staff to provide a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors, staff, faculty and students. The SO2 is always aware of their surroundings, using situational awareness to identify criminal or unsafe conditions. The SO2 is responsible for the dispatch center operations and field operations on the Health Science Campus and to protect and serve the UT/UTMC community. The SO2 adheres to and administers all required Security Operating Procedures as well as University customer service iCare Standards at all times. The SO2 must attend and follow all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment for all.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or GED required, Associate’s Degree preferred.
2. Must have two (2) years of Security officer, Law enforcement, or military service experience.
3. Valid driver’s license and insurability required and insurable under the university driving policy.
4. Supervisory and/or leadership experience desired or demonstrates ability to assume leadership role.
5. Must be proficient in the 900 MHz Kenwood and 800 MHz Motorola radio systems, ARMS record
management system, Pro-Watch system, CCTV system, and other computers and/or equipment.
6. Must have current CPR and AED certification.
7. Must be certified in Professional Assault Crisis Training.
8. Competency in computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet and e-mail) required.
9. Must have proven dependability and consistency.
10. Must possess the physical ability to walk long distances, perform in inclement weather, and perform daily repetitive duties.
11. Must be able to function effectively in an organization where services are provided to multiple departments and in multiple locations.
12. Must possess Honesty, Integrity and Trustworthiness to the highest degree.
13. Must be an excellent communicator with good listening skills, strong writing skills, and polished oral presentation skills, and who is able to relate effectively with all constituencies.
13. Physical Requirements:
a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable;
b. ability to hear (with or without aides);
c. ability to orally communicate well with members of the security team as well as hospital
employees;
d. good manual dexterity; 5) ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 100 pounds occasionally;
e. ability to stand and walk frequently;
f. ability to bend, reach, stoop
