The Sponsored Programs Management Specialist manages the development of research and special project proposal submissions and contracts with federal, state, foundation and private sponsors (funding sources). The Specialist ensures completion of non-financial post-award activities such as obtaining final statements/reports from principal investigators (PIs) and key personnel; ensuring submission of reports to the appropriate agency; and assists in transfer of awards for relocating researchers. The Specialist provides analysis and guidance in the review and interpretation of opportunity announcement documents and exhibits independent problem-solving skills for issues/problems with grant submissions. The Specialist works under the direction and oversight of the Director of Sponsored Programs to review basic proposal and award terms and conditions. The Specialist corresponds with sponsor agency program officials regarding post submission requirements and assists in award negotiations.
