Job Description:

The University of Toledo College of Law is hiring a Program Manager, Student Financial Aid. This position is an integral part of the College of Law’s enrollment team and is the point person for the financial aid and scholarship needs of its students. With direction and guidance from the Office of Student Financial Aid leadership team, this position is responsible for administering financial aid to law students, as well as counseling for eligibility, rights, responsibilities, debt management, scholarship options, verification, budgets, federal work-study and consortium agreements; performing long and short term loan processes; providing compliance documentation for internal and federal auditors, maintaining and enhancing Financial Aid information for the College of Law website; serving on College of Law Scholarship Committee and tracking upper-level scholarships; providing accurate and timely information to staff, students, administrators and community; and providing information for annual reports to accrediting agencies of the College such as the American Bar Association and Association of American Law Schools.

Responsibilities of this position include:
-Providing law school students with excellent customer service in evaluating financial aid needs, resolving account discrepancies, and obtaining financial aid. Counseling law students regarding financial aid, consumer and debt options, their responsibilities and changing regulations and maintaining financial aid pages on College of Law website.
-Entering financial aid information on Banner and coordinating the entry of entering and upper-level scholarship information in the Scholarship Manager system with the scholarship unit within the Office of Student Financial Aid.
-Administering upper-level scholarship program, revising and posting upper-level scholarship applications, reviewing applications and ensuring compliance, preparing for and meeting with the Scholarship Committee to award upper- level scholarships; communicate awards to UT Foundation and tracking upper -level account balances and making adjustments and awards as necessary.
-Participating in College of Law recruitment and retention activities by providing presentations re: scholarships, financial literacy, and Entrance and Exit counseling (as required by federal law).
-Administering federal work-study agreements and consortium agreements for transient students.
-Providing information for annual reports to accrediting agencies of the College of Law such as the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools and providing necessary reports regarding indebtedness and scholarships.
-Collaborating with other Directors of Financial Aid and other administrators in University Financial Aid Office and serving on professional committees.

This position will report to the Assistant Deans of the College of Law and may receive work direction from the Dean of the College of Law. This position has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Assistant Director, Graduate & Professional Programs within the Office of Student Financial Aid and will also receive work direction and ongoing training from the Office of Student Financial Aid leadership team. This position will receive outside direction from the U.S. Department of Education & State of Ohio Department of Higher Education, Internal Audit, External Auditors, and various lenders and loan servicers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of financial aid office or related student service office experience required.
• Ellucian – Banner or other ERP experience required.

Communication and other skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize time.
• Ability to interact with students, staff, and government officials.
• Ability to assure that students understand the financial aid process and their responsibilities.
• Ability to publicly present on financial aid topics.
• Strong computer skills;
• Must have the ability to, as well as meet the requirements to complete and maintain mandatory
training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Banner highly preferred.
