The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) and UT Physicians are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join our growing Department of Orthopedic Surgery as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. This is an excellent opportunity for a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon who values high-quality patient care, academic medicine, and teaching the next generation of surgeons.
About the Opportunity
This position is based at UTMC, a Level II Trauma Center, where the selected candidate will provide:
- Acute orthopedic trauma care in a hospital setting
- Non-acute and follow-up care in the outpatient clinic
- Teaching and mentorship for medical students and orthopedic residents
- Participation in scholarly activity and research, with institutional support
This role offers the stability of an established academic practice combined with the hands-on impact of trauma surgery—no fluff, just meaningful work done well.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive orthopedic trauma care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries
- Participate in an equitable on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
- Engage in scholarly activity consistent with academic faculty expectations
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of Orthopedic Surgery residency and Orthopedic Trauma fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
- Eligible for or able to obtain:
- Unrestricted Ohio medical license
- Unrestricted DEA license
- Demonstrated commitment to education, teamwork, and patient-centered care
