Job Description:

The Licensing Associate is responsible for technology case management including identifying, evaluating, and licensing patentable inventions made by University researchers. Specific activities include: evaluating the technology’s commercial potential; identifying potential licensees; preparing non-confidential, technical information for marketing purposes; developing and implementing technology-specific marketing strategies; and drafting and negotiating license agreements. It is expected that the Licensing Associate will be working on a portfolio at least 30+ individual technology cases at any one time.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree
• Outstanding analytical and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex scientific information in a concise and professional manner.
• Superb inter-personal skills, exceptionally service-minded with a strong attention to detail.
• Some sales experience.
• Outstanding communications skills, poise, tact and professionalism.
• Proven ability to problem-solve and to work effectively and accurately in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict compliance with all pertinent laws, regulation, management directives and institutional policies.
• Ability to interact effectively and productively with faculty and senior officials from academia, government and industry.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent, extended projects through to completion.
• Ability to function independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a coordinated team.
• Strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Masters degree in science, engineering or other technical area.
• An MBA or law degree.
• Prior professional or high-level sales experience.
• Working knowledge of commercial product development processes.
• Prior experience in an academic or industrial technology transfer role.
