Job Description:

The primary duties of this position are the implementation and support of research administration software (RAS) systems for human research review and approval, animal research review and approval, biosafety review and approval and grant development and submission. This position will answer questions from staff, troubleshoot and triage issues, assist with data maintenance and reporting, and give input on business practices. This position will take a lead role in implementing the animal and biosafety committee functionality in a new software system, and will be expected to make many decisions autonomously. Similar responsibilities will be assumed as additional software is implemented for grant development and submission.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer technology or other related field that included course work or training in database systems management or computer information systems.
• 1 -3 years relevant experience.
• Strong computer skills including familiarity with web applications and Microsoft products such as Word and Excel.
• Must be able to break complex tasks into manageable pieces and analyze, describe and replicate them.
• Must possess extensive organizational skills, time management skills and prioritization skills.

Communication and other skills:
• Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Candidate must be able to work and solve problems independently.
• Candidate must display positive customer-oriented attitude.
• Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with people of all levels of computer experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates familiar with sponsored research and the research protocol review process. Experience in developing complex reports is helpful.
• Should have some database experience, including MS SQL Server, and an understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Should have report building experience. Examples of reporting tool used are: Crystal Reports, MS Access, and possibly Argos.
