Job Description:
A Postdoctoral Fellow position, supported through Dr. Amit K. Tiwari’s funding is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Toledo, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. With their expertise in synthetic chemistry, cancer biology, molecular pharmacology, and bioanalytical analysis, the candidate will contribute to our anticancer drug discovery and development program. Performing complex experiments in a new area of cancer therapeutics and drug discovery will require a highly-trained individual, preferably with a minimum of research training and a track record of publication, who is able to think critically throughout the design, execution and failure of the experiments. Candidates should have substantial experience in synthetic chemistry and be comfortable performing in vivo experiments. It is essential that the candidate is a team player who is comfortable working with and training graduate students and technicians in Dr. Tiwari's laboratory. Specifically, he/she will train graduate students in chemical synthesis, drug discovery and molecular techniques in coordination with Dr. Tiwari. Along with the assigned graduate student, this individual will assist with all PK and PDX efficacy studies, data analysis as part of these studies, and optimization of lead molecules for future pre-clinical development. Moreover, he/she will be responsible for maintaining cell lines for in vitro studies as well as ordering all the reagents and animals needed for the proposed study. Additionally, the fellow will be responsible for data analysis, manuscript preparation, and assisting the principal investigator as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of research experience and a doctoral degree is a must; must be capable of independent research. Demonstrated expertise in biochemistry, cell biology and chemical synthesis. Knowledge of anticancer drug discovery and development. Productivity as measured by publication in a peer-reviewed journals. Excellent bioanalytical skill is required.
